What starts a golf cart engine when you press the gas pedal?

Jason asked:

Some golf carts’ engine start when the gas pedal is pressed. It’s off until the gas pedal is touched and then it starts. I’m not talking about electric carts, I’m talking about an engine. I’m wanting to make an engine do this and I can’t find what makes that happen. I don’t have the best of knowledge with engines but I do know how an engine works and most part names. I’ve also rebuilt my go-cart engine. If anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

There is a switch on the gas pedal that activates the starter. The starter is shut off by a sensor on the engine, probably an rpm sensor, so when the engine starts, the starter shuts off.

There is a switch that is activated when the pedal is pressed and since the cart is a auto drive the harder you push the faster you go. when you let up on the pedal the switch is deenergized

Gas golf carts have a starter-generator which acts as a starter and an alternator. A micro switch is connected to the accelerator linkage. Different brands use different ones go to nivel.com they have many different ones. The starter is belt driven.
